Link Building What’s ‘Conversion-Oriented’ Link Building?

What’s ‘Conversion-Oriented’ Link Building?

Do you build links to drive conversions? If not, find out how you can..

Have you ever heard about conversion-oriented SEO? Well, great SEO is not just about improving your site’s search rankings in SERPs. But it’s also about increasing the rate of click-through when your site appears in search results. If no one clicks on your links in search results, what benefit are you getting from SEO? Likewise, link building can also be conversion-oriented.

Links are not just for enhancing your blog’s or website’s search engine rankings. But you can also build links in a way that generate conversions.

If you have an online business, your main goal is to generate more and more revenue. That’s why it’s important to keep your mind focused on maximizing the rate of conversions. Most of the web property owners or SEO professionals, however, use link building only for the sake of getting better rankings in search engines.

So, now is the time to fine-tune your link building strategy!

The best idea is to invest in a link building strategy that gets you better search rankings as well as drives more conversions.

To get started with conversion-oriented link building, you need to gain a deep insight into your site’s statistics. Thankfully, you have Google Analytics at your disposal. By using this free tool effectively, you’ll be on your way to gain a better understanding of your link building campaign and enhance the same for better results.

So, what do you do? Well, you need to start setting goals in Google Analytics. You can create several important goals in this regard. Some of these include URL destination, visit duration, pages per visit etc. In addition to that, you can also have a thank-you page on your website. A thank-you page allows you to know whether a visitor completed a transaction or not after visiting your site. Setting up such goals will definitely give you a better insight and you would be able to make your link building campaign conversion-oriented so you can generate more revenue.

By studying the Google Analytics data of your site closely, you can also find out which of the links send you more leads or generate more conversions. By checking out Referrals under Traffic Sources, you can identify the high performing links and adjust your link building campaign accordingly.

Depending on your specific requirements, you may have different goals like getting traffic, increasing the number of subscribers, downloading an e-book or generating leads for your online business. If your goal is to attract more traffic to your website or blog, for example, you can build links to achieve the same rather than creating tons of links that may or may not improve your search rankings.

A good link building strategy is to point your links to a dedicated landing page rather than the homepage of your site. Since the landing page has a specific purpose, that traffic that you send there can be converted easily. If you are really serious about conversion-oriented link building, you should start paying attention to setting goals in Google Analytics. For many, this is a weak area. But with more practice and some expert help from outside, you’ll be on your way to obtaining success.

Hi Dan,

This is great advice and made me think again about my own link building strategy. Never thought about it as a strategic tool to increase conversions but now I see it clearly.

Tracking the sales and where those sales came from will give me valuable insights from demographics and other data that I can collect about the sites that send converting traffic.

Thx for the inspiration!
