scrabble letters The Risk Involved Choosing Keywords

Spending time and effort researching keywords

You will spend your heart and soul choosing either competitive or less competitive keywords. Either way it is still a risk. If you choose competitive keywords with higher click through rate you still need to be prepared for the maintenance.

It’s one thing to get 1st page position, it’s another to maintain it. If you go for less competitive keywords but with good search trends then you can do extremely well.

Performing keyword research is really the risk you take before you invest your time and money on reaching top position to find out later it is extremely hard to keep it in that position and if it is bringing the return you were hoping for.

Most people think that using targeted keywords are easy. For example, “SEO” gets an estimated 20,000 searches a day while “SEM” gets an estimated 9,700 searches a day. If your gut tells you to target “SEM”, you may get higher rankings quicker, but it would only get you half of the results that you have, if you targeted and ranked well for “SEO“.

Remember that even though SEM has less searches it may also be just as difficult or more to get you 1st page position because the sites that you need to out-beat on the 1st page may have more relevant, high page rank and authority backlinks then the sites that are on 1st page for the keywords SEO. So before you choose the keywords also take that into consideration.

There are keywords that are out there and are not able to rank well and the amount of link building needed may not be as significant, regardless of your optimization performance just do your research on this before making the final decision.

There are three main aspects for keyword researching

The first aspect is popularity, on how many overall searches per month a keyword is getting and for this you can use Google Insights, the other is Google Trends which tell you if a keyword is popular and over a period of time.

The third aspect for keyword researching is through competition research. Competition research starts with web page analysis to determine how competitive your website is for any various keyword you use and attach. Sometimes, it referred to as page strength. The next step is to examine some keywords in order to see how competitive they are, this is sometimes called keyword difficulty.

If we determine keyword difficulty, it would be done partially by examining how competitive the pages that ranks well for this keyword.

I don't think anyone is going to tell you that if they know the answer. Why would they want to invite unnecessary competition if they've got a good thing going?

Truthfully, have over ten thousand inbound links and about five thousand pages on your site. This keyword is way to hard and even returns a high amount of money in pay per click. The gambling websites have had hundreds of thousands spent on them and are well maintained.

I agree on the post. It only gives you luck when your keyword was very profitable or not. It depends on how you are unique with your keyword or phrase to make your content look unique and professional, along with the unique keyword.

    Thanks for the post Dan!

We'll it depends on how lucky we are on grabbing a unique keyword that will potentially go on the top of SERPS. If you are the first ever using that keyword and maintaining it's rank, you will be on top and on the first page as well.

Alan the issue is you can never be on the top page unless you completely dominate the market. Then of course there is also a challenge of owning half the google page or atleast having 5 websites that are yours that come up on the 1st page.

I'll give you an example if you type "SEO Book" in google the first 4 sites that come up in the results are from the same owner!

I do not endorse software programs very often but this new service is outstanding. It's a key phrase tool having a database of millions of keyword phrases showing the adwords traffic count per month along with the google competition count as well as other numbers.

At a click of a button you will discover phrases with traffic but no competition and I've used it already to get pages and websites to the top of the search engines, even with no backlinks.

You can see a video of it in use here – MarketEyeSite.com

it is getting more difficult to rank high for some keywords. This might be because of high competititon or search engine getting smarter.
