Setting up a Shopping Ecommerce Website with Yahoo Merchant

Tags: , ,

I didn’t realize how easy it is to set up a ecommerce shopping site using Yahoo Merchant and the interface that is used in order to get your own site up and live within literally minutes.

The plans are as low as $25.97/month. The beauty about it is you don’t have to spend hours of farting around with programming and css files. Just upload your products you wish to sell, upload logo and choose colors and template and away you go. Of course you can then choose your preferred payment type and it contains an easy to use admin to monitor sales and track inventory.

It’s a great system to use if you just want an all in one solution. If you already have a website and just need to use their payment gateway this is also possible. It can be a very useful alternative then using paypal carts or other pain in the butt platforms.

The great thing is they are currently waiving the setup fees, if you click this promotional link – Yahoo Merchant Promotion you will benefit from this waive.

One thing I must say is also great is the fact  that if you have lets say 10,000 images it will all be stored on their server, so you also don’t even have to worry about the hosting and website speed and quota and to have your whole site stored on the Yahoo Hosting account extremely secure.

Here again are some store examples:

This is my favourite bit when signing up you instantly get all of these marketing benefits:

*  Search engine-friendly pages
* Automatic submission to Yahoo!
* Automatic submission to Google
* $100 credit with Yahoo! Search Marketing**
* Free Yahoo! Local listing
* $50 credit for Google AdWords
* 20% off Yahoo! Shopping default minimum bids in all categories
* Free trial on Shopping.com-$50 value
* $50 free traffic from Shopzilla
* 1 month trial with Campaigner by Got (email marketing)

That in itself is almost worth the money! :)

If you are already using Yahoo Merchant please share with me what you think about it, I would be happy to hear from your experiences.

Yahoo Advertising Coupon – $25 Credit

Have you considered Yahoo advertising?

Yahoo Search advertising is a big market according to Zac Johnson who makes around $300k per month as a publisher on Yahoo Ads.

Yahoo! Search MarketingBut how effective is Advertising on Yahoo Search?

Well I believe it should never be under estimated…What I really like about Yahoo search advertising is that when you set up your campaign it straight away gives you suggested keywords and search volume for the month based on similar keywords you choose.

Yahoo is steadily gaining momentum in the amount of hits it gets and although Google still dominates and covers the majority of searches at 62.6%, Bing at 12.7%, Yahoo covers 18.9% (Updated on August 2010) which is a lot of potential search engine traffic to promote your business.

So if you have not yet dabbled with Yahoo search advertising, I suggest you give it a try. At least take advantage of their free credit offer.

Try it out with $25 Free Credit!

They are currently giving away a $25 free credit voucher to get you familiar with it and see how well it does for you. Be sure to let me know how you go and if I can help you with anything once your campaign is set up.

Oh and don’t forget – One thing that is also good when measuring your success is a program called Market Samurai. They now offer tracking for Yahoo, so you can now also monitor your performance based on competition.

Good Luck!

Microsoft, Yahoo & Google Negotiations

A backlash kind of deal with Yahoo and Microsoft

If you have read about the latest discussion regarding Microsoft wanting to buy out Yahoo you will find that they have backed out. The story is also at news.com and the letter is also included here.

So they didn’t pull through in the end because they were not happy with the final amount they were offered for Microsoft to buy out Yahoo which was 44.6 billion dollars.

But to round this off Google are very closely related to Yahoo and always have been and if anyone who helped turn this round it has clearly been Google. Larry Page (Founder of Google) and Jerry Lang (Founder of Yahoo) went to uni together, so they have a closer relationship strangely even as competitors.

Then hours after with Yahoo and Google Advertising deal

Anyway, in between all this and just hours after, Yahoo made an arrangement with Google to display Google ads in their search results for Canada and US.

This means that this join venture will at least enable Google and Yahoo to battle off  Microsft to win the war of search.

Yahoo helped Google out in the early days and as a result Yahoo has always had a soft spot for them and as it turned out Google have more or less persuaded Yahoo to consider not doing the deal with Microsoft. It turned out that Yahoo and Google agreed on taking the deal instead in exchange for advertising.
