Concentrate on Higher Alexa and SEO Will Come

Tags: , , ,

If you concentrate on building traffic to your site through newsletters and sales landing pages and other forms of marketing then eventually your SEO efforts will be easier as your site is already getting traffic and has some reputation and backlinks, so your SEO efforts will not be as hard for when trying to rank for certain keyphrases. This is why sites that have age are also easier to optimise then sites that are new.

To help you through the process you can use Traffic Travis or any other SEO tools to monitor your progress and find what is already working for you.

To start gaining exposure from scratch it is much easier then a few years before as there are more resources available but on the other hand is more competition and websites being uploaded each day, so more eyeballs are needed to keep up with it all.

But as a starting point everyone is generally familiar with social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter so you can easily start off with creating fan pages and groups and tweets then lead their way into other forms of promotion, including press coverage and authority listings from associations they are related to.

You can join Traffic exchange programs such as Traffic Python aswell if you really want to go down the desperate stage but to be honest I don’t really recommend it. Either way you go just stay away from blackhat methods of getting traffic as this can get your IP banned from certain data centres and in the long run do more harm then good.

Overall concentrate on getting the word out about your site, through various methods that you feel comfortable with either online and offline and you will naturally find your Alexa increase the more visits you get. Natural visitors are the best forms of visitors and over time will get sites linking to you. When they link to you you can then ask them to change the Anchor text of the link you have with them. It’s much easier to tweak and get existing links to be set up the way you want then to find new ones. So just keep this in mind aswell!

Last but not least just go crazy on adding content, the more content you have in your site the more pages you will have indexed in the search engines and more chance you will have with your site being informative and rich of quality content, leading site owners bookmarking your site and remembering your site to keep going back to when they are in need, so with this in mind your Alexa will always be on the rise!

Good Luck and be sure to leave your experiences behind and for those who would like to get Alexa installed be sure to download the Firefox Alexa sparky extension

Tips on How to do SEO Better than Your Competitors

Tags: , , ,

Offering SEO as a service is extremely competitive and there is always a new Design agency or IT company coming out of the wood works suggesting that they can offer SEO.

The thing that all us SEO professionals know is that they are no where near as experienced as what other SEO companies are and have been doing for years but there are still a few pointers to go by to stay ahead of the game.

Be different
Offer a unique service and do well at it. Be on top of the game and up with new algorithm changes and what is happening in the industry.

Be competitive
Do a good job at the right price and deliver on time. You do not want to guarantee results at a time frame if you can not stick to it.

Be aggressive
Work hard on all your clients, if you are overloaded with work this does not mean you should spend less time on one client and more with another, spread out your efforts evenly even if it means you need to work harder or get a helping hand.

Be assertive
Always stay positive and on the ball, if your clients ask questions through email do not delay responses, keep them happy and trusting in you by answering all the questions they have asked you.

Ask questions
Get to know your clients marketing perspective, what they have done in the past both online and offline and what has or has not worked for them and use this information wisely. To be successful in any SEO or Marketing project you must ask questions before the project and during. If it’s a one way street it will not last.

Prove your experience
Show your clients examples of results you have achieved for keywords and sites you have got to 1st page of the search engines on and testimonials of clients that are genuinely happy with your work.

Reporting
Give your clients monthly reporting and if they require reporting when they ask you should also provide this. It will settle their nerves and give them the information they need to see that you are actually doing the work.

Stepping On Another SEO Companies Shoes

Tags: , , ,

The great thing about SEO  is there is no reason why you need to stay with just one SEO company.

I have one client that recently said to me that they need to wait until their current SEO contract runs out before they start work with me, and instead we both came to an understanding that this didn’t have to be the case. What we instead decided was that I can concentrate on getting the sub domain to the first page without stepping on the other SEO companies shoes.

If the client is fairly familiar with SEO and has someone working on their site already but wants to try another SEO company just for the pure fact that they are unhappy with their current SEO progress, then there is no reason to wait until the contract runs out.

Of course you continue to pay your current SEO company as usual and then just start with the new company but instead of getting them to optimise the same page you just get them to start search engine optimisation on another page.

Just be sure that when you do a contract with an SEO company that they do not have anything in the clause to say that you need to stay with them only. Usually if an SEO company has some type of clause like this I personally think this is something you should question them about?

If they are local SEO companies from the same region for example Melbourne or Australia then this could make waves in the industry or country you are doing business in, so just be sure that everyone has a clear understanding. This in turn should be a positive outcome in which will make a good karma community.

Just be sure that they don’t hijack or copy your SEO efforts. Although there is no guarantee they won’t, do not let this put you off. After all there is a good chance they are already deciding to keep you on especially if they are already getting bad feelings from the last SEO company it is a little hard to make them feel good again, unless they finally pull through with the goods. At the end of the day the client just wants one outcome only. Timely, affordable SEO services , so just make sure you do just that.

Buying Sites Vs Buying Links

Tags: , ,

What are the pros and cons of buying sites verse buying links for SEO?

Well first of all most big websites out there these days have hundreds of mini sites or sites that they have established that are relevant and link to their main site. This is good if the sites that are linking in are from different ip addresses as it tells the search engines that they are not necessarily from the same owner.

Others say that buying links would save you the hassle of registering new sites and be just as effective. There are 2 sides to the coin. The 1st thing is when buying links it does not ensure you a permanent 1 way link. It might be good for some time, but at the end of the day you are not benefiting from it long term. Sure it can help getting a link from a site that has high page rank that you are looking for, but too much of link buying can also send off alarm bells to Google.

It is not against Googles terms to buy links but it is to sell links based on page rank, and it is against Googles terms to buy links specifically to gain page rank. So nevertheless, I encourage you to believe it is beneficial to do both. Although link buying can be time consuming and expensive to find the sites you want links on, so can building sites, but long term this is the key.

When you buy or develop a site to link to your main site, there are certainly other factors to consider such as the age of the domain you have bought or registered, the relevancy of the domain or site, is it being updated frequently, does the site have backlinks or page rank as well and does it have alot of cached and index pages.

Many site owners think they can just build 100 sites and link to their main site and think they can gain loads of traffic. Wrong, the problem is they don’t realise is it is those sites itself that need to also have alot of backlnks and page rank.
This tells Google that the sites that are linking into the main site have some authority.

So the big question is what works best for you, and do you consider buying sites or buying links to be more effective?

Internet Marketing for Special Occasions

Tags: , , ,

Are you one of the very few that take advantage of upcoming events or popular occasions. For example when Michael Jackson died, every one started trying to milk it heavily and create fan sites and anything else they could make a buck from, sad but true. The same happened with Obama, as soon as he became president site owners sold Obama t-shirts and anything else they could think of.

Just a few days ago there was a devastating earthquake in Haiti. The top search term according to google trends this month was “Haiti Quake”. Will we see an increased amount of haiti sites and support groups on the internet. The answer is Yes. There are already more then 500 groups with some groups which have over 200,000 members already in each group.

Whether the cause is out of donation or charity or support or just pure love, there will be another site related to another occasion to either help or gain benefit from.

There is always good and bad in the industry. When you see something is starting to bubble you can take advantage of it big time. “Iraq” was also one of the major search terms for a very long time. When the iphone came out hundreds and thousands of site owners started getting in on developing iphone applications.

I tend to use Google trends often, it can usually tell you what the most popular search term is for the month, and you can set up a site based on that.

Even domain name investors regularly check the global news and what is new in the industry. If there is a special name ready to go wild, they will register it!

But the question is what works for you? Have you recently taken part or had any experience in this area?

There are already more then 500 groups with some groups which have over 200,000 members already in each group.
