Buying Sites Vs Buying Links

Tags: , ,

What are the pros and cons of buying sites verse buying links for SEO?

Well first of all most big websites out there these days have hundreds of mini sites or sites that they have established that are relevant and link to their main site. This is good if the sites that are linking in are from different ip addresses as it tells the search engines that they are not necessarily from the same owner.

Others say that buying links would save you the hassle of registering new sites and be just as effective. There are 2 sides to the coin. The 1st thing is when buying links it does not ensure you a permanent 1 way link. It might be good for some time, but at the end of the day you are not benefiting from it long term. Sure it can help getting a link from a site that has high page rank that you are looking for, but too much of link buying can also send off alarm bells to Google.

It is not against Googles terms to buy links but it is to sell links based on page rank, and it is against Googles terms to buy links specifically to gain page rank. So nevertheless, I encourage you to believe it is beneficial to do both. Although link buying can be time consuming and expensive to find the sites you want links on, so can building sites, but long term this is the key.

When you buy or develop a site to link to your main site, there are certainly other factors to consider such as the age of the domain you have bought or registered, the relevancy of the domain or site, is it being updated frequently, does the site have backlinks or page rank as well and does it have alot of cached and index pages.

Many site owners think they can just build 100 sites and link to their main site and think they can gain loads of traffic. Wrong, the problem is they don’t realise is it is those sites itself that need to also have alot of backlnks and page rank.
This tells Google that the sites that are linking into the main site have some authority.

So the big question is what works best for you, and do you consider buying sites or buying links to be more effective?

Internet Marketing for Special Occasions

Tags: , , ,

Are you one of the very few that take advantage of upcoming events or popular occasions. For example when Michael Jackson died, every one started trying to milk it heavily and create fan sites and anything else they could make a buck from, sad but true. The same happened with Obama, as soon as he became president site owners sold Obama t-shirts and anything else they could think of.

Just a few days ago there was a devastating earthquake in Haiti. The top search term according to google trends this month was “Haiti Quake”. Will we see an increased amount of haiti sites and support groups on the internet. The answer is Yes. There are already more then 500 groups with some groups which have over 200,000 members already in each group.

Whether the cause is out of donation or charity or support or just pure love, there will be another site related to another occasion to either help or gain benefit from.

There is always good and bad in the industry. When you see something is starting to bubble you can take advantage of it big time. “Iraq” was also one of the major search terms for a very long time. When the iphone came out hundreds and thousands of site owners started getting in on developing iphone applications.

I tend to use Google trends often, it can usually tell you what the most popular search term is for the month, and you can set up a site based on that.

Even domain name investors regularly check the global news and what is new in the industry. If there is a special name ready to go wild, they will register it!

But the question is what works for you? Have you recently taken part or had any experience in this area?

There are already more then 500 groups with some groups which have over 200,000 members already in each group.

Getting Bored Of Link Building?

Tags: ,

There is actually alot we don’t like doing when it comes to SEO or in particular link building. Sending out link exchange requests or submitting to directories in the hope to be approved is all a time consuming process.

To keep positive and not get bored easily it is important to have a very broad scope. If we can monitor our success rate and if we can see that we are making sales as a result then link building becomes more motivating.

I often try and break my day up by doing some article submissions, then social bookmarking and then the rest of my day with SEO. Then the next day I will do some 3 way link exchanges, press release submissions and then content blog link exchanges. Then the next day might do some social marketing link building. In total I spend around 2 hours a day on link building then the rest on SEO and web development.

The reason why a lot of companies outsource link building or SEO is it can become very monotonous. The only problem is when you outsource even you still don’t have the final touch which you can if your confident enough to do yourself. It takes a certain skill to be able to get the right links your looking for. As your experience gets better you will get fussier and fussier with this process.

Overall link building can be tiresome. On top of all the link building we always keep a frame of mind with dofollow links, and high page rank links, this keeps us fully satisfied when not only our links have been approved but we obtain quality links.

What are your thoughts, do you get bored when doing the same link building procedures each day?

Happy SEO in 2010

Tags: ,

Happy New Year everyone, and even happier for those who have been involved with SEO for some time. Obviously change is one of the hardest things to work with particularly when one is very set in their ways, but change is good and only for the strong minded. Now has come the time, for many years since 2003 Google had set a patent based on link popularity.

This algorithm structure is based on back links and calculates links, the good from the bad, the popular from the less popular, the authority links from the less authority and weighs up the links from high page rank vs low page rank sites and pages.

For 2010 all this is changing

It has been told recently Google have based their new algorithm on a social platform. For me personally change is good, I get bored easily and concentrating on back linking becomes tiresome and monotonous. Although this will not be totally eradicated there will still be some chance to progress and spend time on other areas. The other areas include:

  • Personalized Search Changes
  • Real Time Search
  • Growth of Android and Personalized Mobile Search
  • Social Search
  • Bing Growing into legitimate option 2

The recent patent is an interesting one as recently summarized. It shows that alot of attention will be focused towards Google Phone, or mobile in general and bookmarking and personalization along with user data information.

This actually tells us that social media is going to play a big role and that Twitter and other Social platform will also be contributing in the data that is shared and will carry weight accordingly.

Those SEO people who are already against social platforms have no option but to turn to this game. It is really a do or die situation. I believe SEO is already changing towards an overall internet marketing platform. To do and adapt in all the ways of marketing on the internet enables you to receive the highest search engine results.

To be successful particularly in 2010 you will need to stay ahead of the game. Working off old SEO ways will be half of the work and sooner or later fade out alltogether. So start getting social, mobile, in the media and above all user friendly becuase this is the way of the future folks!

Best of luck and success for 2010!
