IP phones also known as VOIP are the way to go and much better then using a normal land line and much cheaper too. If you are familiar with Skype and their costs you will know that this is the way of the future. The beauty of IP phones is it is just like a normal home or office phone but just plugged into your router so you are basically making calls via the internet.

You will also need a fixed ip, you can arrange this with your host.
IP Phone has got its vital usage, basically its really cheap to call in most of countries including USA, UK etc.
In my opinion, in future time there will be much more usage of VOIP
There is one problem with Skype that they could not provide you a local number so anyone calling you on that number will be charged as long distance charges.
Hopes within few months we will have solution for this problem also.
Voip has reduced the cost of calling…. I am using Skype to call my relatives. By using Skype I can save much of my money and I could talk for more time.
