Building Your Brand is King!

Tags:
Alot of people say that building content is king, or doing link building is king. But have they ever thought that building your brand is king? Look at all the big brand names out there, the only reason why they are big and continue to be big is because people remember the name and search for this name on the internet again and again.

Brand
Building your brand and people remembering is bigger than big!
Pepsi, Warner Brothers, Rolex, Ferrari, Nintendo, Nokia, Bollywood, the list keep on going?

Look at google they have a home page with just a logo, there content is 0, it’s inside their search box they have information. Look at Pepsi they could have a page with just the word pepsi and a phone number if they want, and they will still stay big because it’s the brand they have built over the years that sticks in everyone’s mind.

Think of a catchy name (non generic) when launching a new business, every business should have something short and memorable. This is the key to improving recognition which will lead to people spreading the word about you and people visiting your site or shop or office again and again.

I would list it out in this order as most important;

  1. Brand – Having a very catchy and memorable name (non generic) is the key. Take microsoft for example, catchy and means nothing. The name doesn’t have to mean anything , just needs to be catchy.
  2. Content – Building content on your site is usually by including recent company news, events, and images or anything else that fits into the theme of your site. Also by adding new pages with more information and by having more pages within the site increases your sites chances of having more pages indexed in the search engines.
  3. Link Building – (remember there is no point in doing SEO on a site with no content unless you want to rank well just for the home page. If you want to rank well for inner pages you need to have content on those pages first or atleast create the page before you can link to it!

Double Impact with Mixed Media

Tags:

I think the power of media and how you present yourself is really an art in itself. I mean if you look at how traditional marketing was many years back and to how it is now it’s almost like it has done a full spin.

You had to do network marketing dealing face to face and giving out business cards and really sell yourself and what you can do with meetings and conferences. Having an advertisement in the yellow pages was also a must.

But how far have we really stepped up with the marketing capabilities that bring us to where we are today?

Well for one the Internet as we all know has been a major break through in communication and how we get our services across and present ourselves, right through to dealing with clients via email instead of writing letters and sending to people in the mail.

Today the internet is a real gateway for the exact same thing but online. But I am still a believer in doing both online and offline and successfully. To be really successful you must do everything. You can’t just half do things in life. You can’t just wear a hat when you go in the sun and not wear sunscreen. You get my point.

Lets take the following as an example:

Business Directory – Also known as the online yellow pages. You can advertise your business now online in a directory the same way you would in a book, and instead of people finding your business by flipping through pages they find your business through searching, but your success is determined by the amount of website traffic the directory gets. Double up your success rate by advertising in offline directories aswell, even if you get 10% of people contacting you than what you would of 15 years ago, it’s better than nothing.

Social Marketing – There are endless amounts of Social Marketing websites just to name a few linkedin, xing, techcrunch, slashdot and many more. which have also been proven to be powerful media sources. Again why not also take this further and socially get involved with sports or activities in your local community or host conferences and exhibit your services through exhibition venues and handing out business cards with your website address will also get the potential clients to do business with you at a later stage.

Affiliate Marketing – Is also a very powerful tool for not only publishers but advertisers as they can gain commissions when referring website users to other sites. There are programs out there that you can specifically advertise in a target niche and offer commissions for referrals to your own site. Double up the impact and offer some commission based referral system on paper or on contract with your sales team or distributors.

Email Marketing – Monthly Newsletters is also a great one, hey but why not also send a thank you card in the mail too, this gives an extra impact.

ArticlesArticle writing or blogging is content, content is king! Everyone knows that having more interesting pages to your website creates more chances of hits through search engines or in general. Why not double up your content in newspapers or magazines, really get this out there both online and offline. People still love sitting around reading in the sun.

SEO – Ranking in search engines for certain keywords is also gold and should never be under estimated of the traffic potential. If your niche is travel why wouldn’t you want to be on the 1st page of google for the word “travel”. It is also said that people search for your company name before doing business with you. The only way to double your search engine optimization efforts offline or come anywhere close would be the use of “word of mouth”.

Advertising – All types of internet advertising including Banner ads are very effective. Still to this day offline banners also known as signs or signage are another very effective type of media. Radio or TV Advertising are also good when trying to get a visual and point across quickly.

To plain and clearly see the whole point of this exercise and to emphasize what I have written above is to also look at it this way:

Let’s say I want to have my magazine or publication company but also an online version, and I want to have my t-shirt shop, but also on online version. I mean straight way that is double impact. Now lets triple our impact by doing some advertising, and again ramp up our hit and enquiry rate by doing SEO. Now lets give our client some warmth by sending out a thank you card. I mean the potential with mixed media is endless.

If there is any feedback or media that I failed to mention here please feel free to share your comments with me,

Tweak and Adjust for SEO

I would say it’s almost like getting your car ready to race and once on the race track continuously being tweaked where possible to get ahead of other racers.

A website works very much the same way in the sense that instead of getting new wheels or better exhaust system or lighter metal to strip it down to get as quick as possible, the same works with your website and pages so it can be crawled more frequently and open quicker, so we can keep on adding more modules and load of loads of content to increase hits and more exposure.

A car just like a website needs to be constantly modified in order to leave it’s competitors for dust.

To stay ahead of this game we need to tweak keywords in the backend and do alot of off-page optimization aswell which will give the site better search results and be on top of your competitors and this takes continual effort on behalf of tweaking and adjusting. (It is an ongoing process which im sure car enthusiasts can also relate to)

Where does it end? The fact is it doesn’t, it ends until every last person in the world is clicking to your site! (Well that is 6 billion I think?) Hmmm 6 billion clicks a day, that would be nice! As for the the car it just keeps getting better and better and wins every race!

It’s also like adjusting to the climate continuously aswell, because SEO changes all the time, and a SEO specialist needs to be on top of all the changes to know what will be the next turn.

This takes some dedication and skill.

4 Letter Domain Sold

Tags:

One of my 4 Letter Domain Names JKXY.com was just recently bought through my 4 Letter Domain name portfolio www.4ldomain.com for a nice $500.

The buyer from China gives much hope to the undervalued non-premium letters which include QXZ which is considered to western majority as low quality letters.

I see huge potential with premium letters and one or so non-premium mixed in with that as this sale has clearly shown.

After November 2nd 2007 after the buyout there has only been one direction that the 4 letter domain names can go, just the same way as the 3 letter min value of 6k and already 5 letter domains are going and that is up in value.

Whether there are some small signs of weaknesses along the way there will always be a strong demand for this market for both the seller and end user.
