I would say it’s almost like getting your car ready to race and once on the race track continuously being tweaked where possible to get ahead of other racers.
A website works very much the same way in the sense that instead of getting new wheels or better exhaust system or lighter metal to strip it down to get as quick as possible, the same works with your website and pages so it can be crawled more frequently and open quicker, so we can keep on adding more modules and load of loads of content to increase hits and more exposure.
A car just like a website needs to be constantly modified in order to leave it’s competitors for dust.
To stay ahead of this game we need to tweak keywords in the backend and do alot of off-page optimization aswell which will give the site better search results and be on top of your competitors and this takes continual effort on behalf of tweaking and adjusting. (It is an ongoing process which im sure car enthusiasts can also relate to)
Where does it end? The fact is it doesn’t, it ends until every last person in the world is clicking to your site! (Well that is 6 billion I think?) Hmmm 6 billion clicks a day, that would be nice! As for the the car it just keeps getting better and better and wins every race!
It’s also like adjusting to the climate continuously aswell, because SEO changes all the time, and a SEO specialist needs to be on top of all the changes to know what will be the next turn.
This takes some dedication and skill.
