Headlines Vs Domain Names

Tags:

As we are moving further towards unique content, and search engine presence, as well as unique identity (unique domain names), there is an increasing amount of bloggers and Internet Marketers to follow and that are being very active in this field.

Unique headlines and domain names are becoming extremely difficult to come by.

Choosing the right headlines can be the one thing that brings users attention to your webpage you are promoting. If the headline is unique and contains the right words that users a searching for, this could be the one thing that brings more traffic.

People know that if you find a domain name similar to the words you want to rank for, you are already 20% there in regards to SEO. Same fashion now is being used with headlines of blogs, if your overall website is very well optimised your headline may appear at the top of the search engines within hours of writing a post.

Finding a Unique domain name is similarly the same situation particularly .com’s. How far can this all go? Lets say you find the most amazing headline for example “Browsing the Web” and you not only write a great article about browsing the web but you also think this headline is so good, I might actually see if I can register this domain name: browsingtheweb.com and what do you know? It’s gone!

I’ll give another example, a movie production company has named their movie “gone in 60 seconds” if it’s not the movie producers that go out and buy that name, it will be somebody else that does, the same situation goes for a book or even a magazine.

I think domain names are being cleaned up in all areas possible.

There are still alot of certain tricks to find good domain names, but of course as days go on it is becoming more limiting.

Withdrawal Symptoms from Internet Addiction

Tags:

Are you one the few suffering from Internet Addiction? Surprisingly if you type in google “Internet Addiction” there are 1,260,000 search results for this word.

The few most common patterns from an Internet Marketing, Web Development Professional (me) perspective that I find most addicting is:

1. Turning off the computer

2. Wanting to check emails continuously, particularly from clients.

3. Checking clients rankings continuously to see if the keywords they are ranking for are increasing in the search engines.

4. Submitting links continuously to websites, directories, forums, blogs and social sites and tweaking SEO as much as I can.

5. Reading the News, Forbes, Entrepreneur, and Tech sites to be up to date with the latest information.

6. To continuously work whether it means finding new clients, designing websites, programming, development, preparing invoices or SEO, I am driven to succeed past the success level and further to success that success has no meaning.

7. Buying and Selling Domain names – There are always great bargains or domainers wanting to flip a good domain which I always try not to miss.

8. Buying Websites – I rarely buy websites, but it’s more like I don’t want to miss a great business opportunity if I can find a bargain website of interest for sale.

The type of symptom I feel when I am not doing all of this, is I feel that I could be missing out on something which has not been acted to immediately or I have not found because I was away from the computer.

I was also amazed to see that there really is alot behind the addiction noted by Bratter and Forest which define addiction as “a behavior pattern of compulsive drug use characterized by overwhelming involvement… with the use of a drug and the securing of the supply, as well as the tendency to relapse after completion of withdrawal.

Like all other addictions, Internet addiction is a psychophysiological disorder involving tolerance (the same amount of usage elicits less response; increased amounts become necessary to evoke the same amount of pleasure), withdrawal symptoms especially, tremors, anxiety, and moodiness), affective disturbances (depression, irritability), and interruption of social relationships (a decline or loss, either in quality or quantity). Well im lucky I have an understanding wife here.

But none the less I think if you are happy with what you do, the addiction is worth it all!

Let’s all not feel embarressed here, can anyone else express how they feel or if you have an addiction I would like to hear about what it is that brings you back to the world of the web.

Refusing SEO Work?

Tags:

All 5 clients want to rank 1st page of google for the same key phrase

How far can you really go? I’m sure any SEO company or SEO Consultant can relate to this, in fact I suspect this is a fear that many SEO companies will not admit or discuss openly about.

But let’s be realistic here, if you have a client that wants to be on the 1st page of google for the keyphrase ” Bangkok Property “, and than the next 4 clients or so that you are also doing SEO work for are also bidding for this term, your SEO task becomes more challenging. (I have been reasonable fortunate with clients of mine that are in slightly different areas of expertise in particular Hua Hin Real Estate ).

Respectively you have 10 spots in google for the same keyphrase before you will end up on the 2nd page. So this leaves you room with 5 clients and 5 spots to move around slightly on the 1st page give and take and due to google’s daily algorithms.

5 Most Common Refusal Work and Ways around this:

  1. Clients Bidding for Same Key phrases – (Don’t lock yourself, suggest that they can be on the the 1st page but because your previous clients have bided for the same phrases, they may as a result appear on the 2nd page from time to time.)
  2. Duplicated Websites – Many SEO companies refuse SEO work if the client wants to market all of their sites that are totally the same (Ways around that are setting up a parked domain to the site they wish to duplicate)
  3. Static Vs Dynamic Websites – Some SEO’s prefer to work on Static Sites, as other SEO’s prefer to work on Dynamic, depending which one you are used to, working on any different can be a daunting task, as meta keywords and description and page text etc. to adjust are set differently.
    (A) Static (Good old find and replace works wonders) ,
    (B) Dynamic (Editing the database file keywords after exporting tables can also be a quick resolution)
  4. Search Engine Friendly Url’s – If your client has old indexed pages such as www.mywebsite.com/mywebpage?=123 and now requires SEO friendly Url’s but does not want his old indexed files to be deleted. (You could make those old pages still indexed but look and feel slightly different.)
  5. Website Designed in Flash – If the website was purely designed in flash (swf) and are no hard coded html files or similar of that matter uploaded their could be an issue of re-designing the site from scratch to base itself around being SEO friendly.

So the big question is to all SEO companies out there, will you refuse SEO work if this becomes the case? Or will you work around the common issues and tasks to better take care of your clients needs!

Social Marketing

Tags:

There are many different ways to being Socially active on the internet now and this area is really growing and becoming more and more commonly used particularly in Internet Marketing and SEO. Forget about Facebook for a while, Im talking about real marketing techniques.

Why not Sphinn an article or Digg a news story, or create a Live journal page or perhaps Bookmark sites or web pages that you like through Stumbleupon. I mean the list goes on. I think it’s fantastic to do Social website networking for Internet Marketing purposes, and gives a great advantage when building new groups or area of similar interests leading to clicks and more traffic to your website.

I was also amazed to see that Twitter offers a profile page which displays almost like sms texting which you can update short and descriptive letting friends know what you are up to, handy of course if your always on the run or traveling without your mobile. Technorati is also very good for tagging keywords, posting blogs and creating a fan network. If you feel of a place you need to share photos I recommend using Multiply, here you can leave comments get interactive with other photographers and much more, similar to Youtube but on a more user friendly scale.

I still love the idea of using Internet Marketing forums or Webmaster forums that you can interact on, Blogs are also bringing out many different useful Social Exensions which are also very useful for Social Marketing in many ways. I think over the next bubble we will see alot more social interactivity and may possible become the way of the future for doing business via different means.
